Focus Country- North Korea

Are you indirectly persecuting North Koreans?

A human-rights activist says every time Americans buy a Chinese-made Christmas present, they support a regime that is forcibly repatriating entire refugee families to imprisonment and death in North Korea.

Suzanne Scholte, chairman of the North Korea Freedom Coalition, admits while it is nearly impossible to avoid buying products made in China -- especially during the holidays -- she still believes Americans need to understand that their purchases help support a government that hunts down North Korean refugees. "Repatriating them, sending them back to North Korea to face certain torture, certain imprisonment, and increasingly public execution," Scholte explains. "We're hearing more and more about public executions of North Koreans who cross the border or who have helped others to cross the border." Scholte urges Americans to "offset" their Chinese-made products. "If they're going to be spending money that's going to support indirectly the Chinese regime, then help the rescuers who are helping get these refugees out," she adds. "The North Korean refugees are in desperate shape, and we need people to help us get them out through the underground railroad." For more information about how to help, visit nkfreedom.org.

Good point, Carolyn! I have said before that I will go out of my way and pay more money for an American tool or product. The Chinese might already own America, but I am not buying their poisoned products or filling their rice bowls.

you would be better off if you personally sent your new posts to me via email so I don't miss any again... please.

Hugs,
